A CHARTER ORDINANCE EXEMPTING THE CITY OF MARION, KANSAS FROM K.S.A. 14-301 (RELATING TO THE POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE MAYOR), K.S.A. 14-308 (RELATING TO VACANCIES ON THE GOVERNING BODY) AND K.S.A. 14-204 AND 14-207 (RELATING TO ELECTION OF COUNCIL MEMBERS).

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF MARION, KANSAS:

Section 1.  The City of Marion, Kansas by the power vested in it by Article 12, Section 5, of the Constitution of the State of Kansas, hereby elects to exempt itself from and make inapplicable to it K.S.A. 14-301 (relating to powers and duties of the mayor), K.S.A. 14-308 (relating to vacancies on the governing body) and K.S.A. 14-204 and 14-207 (relating to election of council members). Such statutory section is applicable to this City, but is not applicable uniformly to all cities.
